ComedyRap solo on Fender Rhodes - without beats and bands: On the way to my solo program I recorded some songs live at home and with video and uploaded the stuff to Youtube. The visitor of this site of course can watch them right here under "Das grosse M".

On the low end of the frequency range our new POCKET BAND member is at home: Gregor "Gregge" Kohler. Unfortunately we didn't manage to enter the stage with his predecessor Stephan Schwenk in the time he was the POCKET BAND's bass player, there has always been some date problems. So we can only say thanks for the inspiring rehearsal work and maybe we'll join on stage one day anyway ?

A new path will be gone by "the Big M" - I start walking on a solo trip! With a comedy program which currently is under work, I restart what has already been a highlight in the live set of my POCKET BAND for years: I'm the only rapper to accompany myself on the keyboards. And now I start doing this without beats and drums - just with a piano and a mic. The new solo set consists of the comedy-rapsongs off my CD "Märchenstunde" and some other weird rap, lyric and spoken material. The first proof of the concept took place with phantastic auditory feeback on december 1st at an "Open Stage" in the "Cafe Spielplatz" in Schwäbisch Gmünd, the next is to follow on december 12th - for details refer to the project site of "Das grosse M".

Finally our first CD album "No Revolution" made it as payable download also to this this web page. And sale has started very well - with normal goods I would say: Hurry up until stock is sold out. But I'm afraid you won't believe that with downloads... ;o) PS.: This year's open air appearance of the Pocket Band will be on 13th of June in Aalen !

It was spring 2008 when I started online distribution of our "No Revolution" -CD by "M & his POCKET BAND" and the "Märchenstunde" -CD by "Das grosse M" at Musicload, iTunes & Co.. Something special will happen at our Open-Air - concert at the GmünderART Festival on June 28th: First thing will be a musical dedication to the artist Joseph Überall who recently passed away. Second thing is a special set of some of our tunes which we will play unplugged by the help of our guest bass player Thorsten Meinhardt bringing along his upright bass!

With the end of 2007 our bassist Michael "Mikey" Krauss had to leave us due to time constraints, which on the one hand ist sad - we say: Thanks a lot for that nice three years of playing together ! On the other hand we welcome Stephan Schwenk, a new guy who inspired us already at the first rehearsal with his fancy playing style. Now we have a new wind blowing ! There's only one downer: He also doesn't always has time (who has...? ;o). But since we have build up a kind of "bassists pool" in the meantime, this is not so much of a problem. We'll surprise you next time on stage: Who'll play that bass tonight... ?

Following an invitation "Das grosse M" will play some of his ComedyRap songs live at the "Reichstädter Tage" (Aalen) and at the "10-Band-Night" (Ellwangen) with the wellknown Band "Tightrope" ! And what's up with the POCKET BAND ? The drums have moved to Schwäbisch Gmünd (now he's in our hood), the bass got married (Congratulations !) und the rapping keyboard player has started to fly high with sail planes. Hence new concert dates are still under construction !

Pictures in motion ...some brand new video footage filmed during the concert of M & his POCKET BAND in Stuttgart's new jazzclub BIX is available now. Among them two phantastic cutouts featuring our guest singer Isabel Meisel. And the audio quality of the videos is superb too, because we got some audio recordings straight out of the mixer (thanks !!).

We've been the last ...what happened last thursday at "Jazz in town" at the "Aalener Jazzfest"! M & his POCKET BAND has been on stage until 3 o'clock in the morning finishing this event with high energetic and groovy Jazzfunk music. We've been the last ...what happened last thursday at "Jazz in town" at the "Aalener Jazzfest"! M & his POCKET BAND has been on stage until 3 o'clock in the morning finishing this event with high energetic and groovy Jazzfunk music. At a short concert of M & his POCKET BAND last weekend we didn't play funky Fender Rhodes and electric guitar sounds, but grand piano and acoustic guitar (only our bass player kept playing his electric...). The audience really embraced that special feeling of the music and we just enjoyed playing our tunes in such a different way. You can download some video files including one of the Mozart-adaptation "Mozart in Memphis" by Andreas Kümmerle, especially composed for this event. Many thanks to the girl on the camera Astrid !. PS.: My alter-ego DAS GROSSE M has now completed the EP "Märchenstunde" (Fairytale-Rap) by the "Rap of Cinderella" and release is now planned in October 2006.

And the first composition of our bass player Mikey will have its premiere on our next concert on the 7th of may. Our neighborhood gig in the "Bassano" in Gmünd was a real success which can be proved by some photographs. Debut: Our first Quartet-Gigs at the "Rogers Kiste" in Stuttgart are played and it's been very satisfying for everybody: the audience and ourselves. Some photographic- and (!!NEW!!) video documents of this event are waiting for your eyes - now we can recommend you to join us on one of our next live live appearances!

New year, new equipment: Santa didn't give it to me, so I had to buy it myself: A Roland VK-8 Combo-organ. With this instrument I now can drop the last peace of unsatisfying equipment (Voce V3 Organ Synthesizer) I have used. And at the end of this month my POCKET BAND will be live on stage in Quartett formation (without programmed beats) in Stuttgart's "Rogers Kiste" !

The last notes have been played, the last words are spoken - yesterday at 5 minutes to 9 p.m. I finished the recordings for the "No Revolution"-CD! Now I'm heading straight to Dresden to the Koltron -studio for mixdown and mastering and then I'll present the result on the next gigs on September 24th and 25th.

Halftime: Half of the recordings for the "No Revolution"-CD are done and until now we're very satisfied with them ;-). For those who can't wait there is a small piece of sound under mp3 ready for download. Due to the fact that it's already end of July, the entire CD surely won't be finished until end of September.

CD-News: With a another delay we now have really startet recording our new Album-CD on April 2nd. It will hopefully be finished around August and we plan to do a very special kind of record release party. Just be back here in time to get to know some more details... .!

Launched: Now that the gig in the "Bett" in Stuttgart is played, we will start working on the new CD of "M & his POCKET BAND feat. A. Kümmerle", which surely will not be finished before early summer this year. We just don't wanna hurry - cause it's all about the result!

The Rhodes itself sounds more crisp and aggressive, hence I will record the next year long playing CD with two different Fender Rhodes... . By the way - the summer break is over ! Not so many news for this time. There are just two little things to be mentioned:
As everybody can see in the navigation line, a visitor's book appeared with the possibility for everybody to leave a comment (which of course must not break the laws of the etiquette ;-)). Furthermore you will find under PICS two great new PR-phoptos showing M & his POCKET BAND feat. Andreas Kümmerle - and there are bigger versions of them for downloading, too. And that's all for today already.

Something has happened in the last times. After uploading 2 tunes of the demo CD of M & HIS POCKET BAND to the Besonic-Page (a great music collection with free download possibilities, own charts etc., these tunes can also be found and downloaded there) some really phantastic feedback returned. Now also the live program is complete and the first CDs are on their way - ready for take off !

The Demo-CD of M & HIS POCKET BAND , "Searching 4 directions" is complete now. After a mixing and mastering session of several days (always running between my little studio and my car) now everything sounds the way it has to. For those who are interested in there are some extracts of the complete recordings on the page Listen . Organizer can ask for the entire CD !
On the page also some things have been done. First I could eliminate some little mistakes by hints I got from a friend (thank you, Cracc !). Also some motion has been introduced into the page, and step by step it will become a little more. Wait and see !

Now that the page has been online for more than half a year in a preliminary version, it was time to update to the final one. So everything necessary is online right now - the page will keep this configuration for a while. There are still a few gaps, but I will fill them within the next weeks.
In the last weeks the recording sessions for the first Demo-CD of the project M & HIS POCKET BAND have been done. These recordings strongly feature my collgue and new project member Andreas Kümmerle. The CD will be send around to get some gigs. Some extracts of preliminary mixdowns can already be downloaded from the page Listen.
And now enjoy looking around !
